Avalanche Rider, 2006

Een zeer verfrissende nieuwe plaat voor Kev Black is Avalanche Rider. Deze plaat voert de luisteraar door verschillende genre’s. Van het lachwekkende hillbillynummer ‘Sometimes life is bitter’ tot snoeiharde rockabilly tracks zoals ‘Spinning wheels’. Deze CD is wederom in eigen beheer, en eigen studio opgenomen. Omdat de band er bewust voor gekozen heeft geen nieuw album meer op CD uit te brengen, is er in plaats daarvan een digitaal album verschenen dat op deze website gedownload kan worden. Dit is ook de reden dat het album nog niet echt gerecenseerd is. Downloaden die plaat, volume op tien en blazen met die speakers!

Deze CD is in één dag opgenomen en in een avond afgemixt. De opnames liepen erg lekker en dat kun je zeker horen. In eerste instantie was ie bedoeld als demo Cd maar de reacties waren na de eerste demo’tjes zo tof dat we de kans kregen om de Cd uit te brengen op het “Salisbury Records” label.
Je kunt onze sound het beste omschrijven als “Retro Billy Psycho Surf” vergelijkbaar met bands als The Reverend Horton Heat en Man or Astroman. Terecht worden we er regelmatig van beschuldigd dat we een echte eigen sound hebben. Zelf vinden we dat we met één been in de 50’s staan en met het andere in de 21e eeuw, we hebben dan ook een vuige vette rockabilly partysound.

De CD heeft ons al lekker wat optredens opgeleverd in Nederland en België, natuurlijk hebben we de Cd naar elk, het zichzelf respecterend muziekblad en veel Billywebsites opgestuurd en de recensies liegen er zeker niet om:

Kev Black and the Muffdivers,

Originating from Dordrecht, Holland, Kev Black & The Muffdivers were founded in 2001, and already the band has released their first (demo) mini CD.
The band consists of four passionate members who share the same love for rockabilly and surf music. Inspired by the Fifties era, Longboards, bakelite radios, hot-rod flames and big American cars, they create a rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere with ducktails, petticoats and hot rods.
Their music is mostly inspired by: Brian Setzer, Man or Astroman?, The living end The Reverend Horton Heat and Dick Dale.

Shrieking guitar intros, catching rockabilly rhythms and whipped up surf sounds make Kev Black & The Muffdivers a sordid vile combo. Using authentic sound samples from old spaghetti westerns, space invaders, hot rod cars and TV preachers, the band’s booming stage show will definitly bring any house down.

In 2002 the first recordings were made and came out on the “Salisbury Records” label.
The CD “Comin’to getcha” gave them a load of gigs in the Nethetladns and Belgium,The reviews it got them ar pretty cool:
